Unemployment back on the rise

According to a government report released Friday, thirteen states reported unemployment rates above the national average of 10.2% in October and a growing number reported rising jobless rates. In total, jobless rates rose in 29 states. On the contrary, stunningly, unemployment rates dropped in 13 states.
States among the highest rates included Michigan at 15%, Nevada at 13%, Rhode Island at 12.9% and California at 12.5%.
North Dakota put up the lowest number at 4.2%, followed by Nebraska at 4.9% and South Dakota at 5%.
Earlier in November, the Labor Department reported that the nation’s unemployment rate rose above 10% for the first time since 1983.
