Two San Diego criminals give back to residents of their city

Two suspects in a San Diego narcotics investigation were arrested after leading police on a wild chase, tossing out more than $17,000 in cash out of their truck’s windows, mid-pursuit.

Naturally, motorists stopped on the side and, for some, in the middle of the freeway to grab what bills they could.

The pursuit began Thursday afternoon when police and federal drug agents followed two men who drove off in a pickup truck, Drug Enforcement Administration spokeswoman Eileen Zeidler said.
According to police reports, the driver of the truck led officers through several different neighborhoods and freeways before eventually ending up on the 805 freeway. Suddenly, with several squad cars behind them, the suspects began tossing bills out of the window, mostly $20 and $100 bills, only to eventually surrender to the authorities. As the cash blew across lanes, motorists slammed their brakes in the middle of the road and scrambled to pick up the bills, police Sgt. Kevin Rausis said.
“We saw people stopped on the freeway and running around,” he said.
“I’ve never seen anything like this,” witness Michelle Walashek told CNN. “People were literally risking their lives running into the highway.”
Officers following the money trail collected more than $17,200 and some passers-by later turned in cash to police.

“The way the money was being disposed of, I think it was more of a desperate measure to get rid of evidence,” Rausis said.

Talk about a stimulus package!
The video I have attached, courtesy of CNN, is absolutely hilarious. The real comedy, for me, comes into play when the reporter begins asking the people picking up the cash how much they have collected. Every single one of them, with a huge smile on their face, replies a mischievous “I don’t know” as they skip swiftly into their car. One reporter asks a lady:

“Are you going to give it back?”
She replies:
“I don’t know.”
Pretty sure that’s a no.
