Nissan announces massive recall on several truck models
The Associated Press issued a report recently that Nissan Motor Co. is recalling nearly a quarter million trucks in 20 cold climate states. Apparently there is a defect that could prevent the front airbags form deploying. The Nissan recall is said to be for Frontier, Pathfinder, and the Xterra models for the 2005-2009 years.
Nissan has indicated that the reason behind the cold weather recall, is a combination of snow and road salt could penetrate the crash zone, causing rust. The rust then poses the threat of interrupting the signal and potentially preventing the front airbags from deploying in the crash.
Nissan spokesman Colin Price said the issue was initially discovered through warranty claims and confirmed that there had been no crashes or injuries associated with the issue.
