News corp. settles with Valassis for $500 million
Global media company, News Corp., has decided to settle the alleged anticompetitive behavior lawsuit with Valassis Communications Inc. out of court. News America Marketing will shell out $500 million along with entering into a 10 year shared mail distribution agreement with a Valassis subsidiary, Valassis Direct Mail.
Valassis and News America Marketing both publish coupons for newspapers and sell in-store advertising for supermarkets. The lawsuit, filed in a Michigan federal court, accuses Valassis of engaging in unfair competition and tortuous interference.
