Federal Reserve rakes in record profit margin

The Federal Reserve announced that despite the fact the United States experienced the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, they still managed to pull in a record profit of $46.1 billion this past year.

Yes, record profit.

The previous record was in 2007 at $34.6 billion. In 2008, the Fed reported a profit of $31.7 billion.

The Fed explained that the jump comes from increased earnings on securities it held last year.
