Boeing’s long awaited 787 jetliner may fly Tuesday
The AP reports that Boeing Co. could finally fly their highly anticipated 787 jetliner as early as Tuesday. The flight timing is depended upon final internal reviews, taxi testing and FAA documentation, but did note that there is an open window to fly on December 15. Boeing also confirmed that they had completed the “final guantlet” of testing and were successful in fixing structural the issues they came across earlier. According to Scott Fancher, VP and GM of the 787 program, after to days of testing all issues with the airplane systems had checked out.
Boeing earlier reinforced weak points near the area where the wings attach to the fuselage, then conducted a so-called static test — essentially bending the wings — on the repairs.
